Shalini Gehlot
State President, Rajasthan Architecture Council
Shalini Gehlot is the Founding Partner of ASA Design, an Architectural, Interior, and Lighting design firm she co-founded with her husband, Ar. Amit Gehlot, 27 years ago. With a strong focus on hospitality design, ASA has collaborated with nearly all major national and international hotel chains, establishing itself as a leader in the field. A graduate of the Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee, Shalini earned a silver medal for her thesis in 1997, and has since become the creative force behind ASA, blending art with the science of building.
Her design philosophy is rooted in meticulous attention to detail and exceptional space visualization skills. Shalini strives to create naturally illuminated spaces that incorporate local influences, evoking a distinct sense of place in both architecture and interiors. Her portfolio spans diverse projects, from the luxurious Rambagh Palace—consistently ranked among the world’s top ten luxury hotels—to the Aga Khan–nominated Darshan Institute of Vocational Studies in Jaipur, designed for differently abled children. ASA’s excellence has been recognized with accolades such as “Best Architect of the Year 2008” by Pevonia Asia Spa and inclusion in the prestigious “Leading by Design” program in 2006 by Leading Hotels of the World, where ASA was the only Indian firm featured.
Beyond her professional achievements, Shalini has played a pivotal role in empowering women in architecture. As the founding president of the WICCI Architecture Rajasthan Council, she brought together more than 200 women architects, fostering collaboration and mentorship. She now serves on the WICCI National Council while continuing to guide the Rajasthan state council, reflecting her commitment to building supportive communities and advancing women’s leadership in design.
