Catherine Sofianou is the President of the SofMedica Group, a leading provider of advanced healthcare technologies in South Eastern Europe with operations across Greece, Romania, Bulgaria, and Cyprus. Born in Cairo to a Greek family and later relocating to Athens, she built a 40-year international business career alongside her husband, beginning with an import company in the 1960s. In 1994, she expanded into the medical technology sector by establishing a pioneering healthcare company in Bucharest, introducing innovations such as the Artificial Heart and Robotically Assisted Minimally Invasive Surgery to the region.

A multilingual leader and mother of two, Catherine has been widely recognized for her contributions to medicine, science, and society. Her achievements include honors such as the Member of Honor by the Renasterea Foundation, The Leading Women Entrepreneurs of the World recognition in Bangkok, and the Certificate of Excellence from the Academy of Romanian Scientists. She has also been decorated with prestigious distinctions including the Knight of the Order of the Crown of Romania, the Cross of Archontisa Ekklision, and the Grand Cross of Saint Sabbas the Sanctified.

Beyond business, Catherine remains deeply committed to philanthropy, cultural preservation, and community development. She has been celebrated as a Great Benefactor by the Greek Community of Cairo and appointed to influential roles such as Vice-President of the Greek Chapter of the International Friends of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina. Her long-standing support for healthcare, education, cultural heritage, and humanitarian initiatives has made her one of the most respected figures in the Greek and international diaspora community.
