Luvena Rangel, Founder of The Curvy Yogi, is a pioneering voice in body-positive and accessible yoga. Rooted in the Satyananda Bihar School of Yoga tradition, she brings together her background in Medicine and Holistic Health with teaching credentials in Ayurveda and Meditation. Her studies under renowned thinkers and spiritual teachers—including Pt. Vamadev Shastry, Yogini Shambhavi, Dr. Deepak Chopra, Vianna Stibal, and Pradeep Sattwamaya—have shaped her into one of Bangalore’s leading educators in Yoga Anatomy, Physiology, and Philosophy.
Beyond her teaching, Luvena is a strong advocate for belonging and conscious culture. She actively champions Diversity, Equity, Accessibility, and Inclusion within the yoga community, and is widely respected internationally for her work in addressing cultural appropriation of yoga. Her contributions include serving as an advisor to Yoga Alliance US in their Standards Review Project, specifically within the Inclusion Workgroup, where she continues to influence policies that shape yoga practice and education worldwide.
Her impact extends to global platforms, where she has spoken at the Honor Yoga Global Summit and co-chaired the Cultural Appropriation Track at the 2020 Evolution of Yoga Summit in Los Angeles. Currently, she leads an online deep-dive into the Yogasutras of Patanjali for 140 participants, reflecting her commitment to making authentic yoga philosophy accessible to diverse audiences. Luvena’s work embodies a rare blend of tradition, inclusivity, and advocacy, positioning her as a transformative leader in the international yoga community.
